TAWN MASTREY - BIO
For more than 30 years, Tawn Mastrey was considered one of rock radio‘s top personalities, consistently ranking #1 in her target demographics.
During her final on air incarnation, she hosted a daily show from noon - 6pm Eastern, 9am - 3pm Pacific, on Sirius Satellite Radio’s “Hair Nation” channel 23.
She also contributed her voice to the widely-syndicated “Nights with Alice Cooper,” and was the bi-monthly host of Westwood One Entertainment’s “Absolutely Live High Voltage,” which aired bi-weekly nationwide.
Tawn was also ‘the voice’ of West Palm Beach’s WPBZ and The BOX in Fargo, North Dakota.She was the only woman in this history of music broadcasting to host, write, produce, and syndicate her own radio specials such as ROCKZONE and SAMMY HAGAR’S CABO WABO HAPPY HOUR.
Throughout the course of her long, distinguished career she hosted shifts on are KNAC 105.5 FM, Long Beach/Los Angeles, California; KQLZ 100.3 FM (Pirate Radio), Los Angeles, CA; KLSX, Los Angeles, CA; KMEL, San Francisco, CA; KSJO, San Jose, CA; KUFO, Portland, Oregon; and KXXR (93X), Minneapolis, MN. West-wood One’s Syndicated program, Hair Nation/KSFM, Sacramento, CA. ;KTRB/KHOP, Modesto, CA and Sirius Satellite Radio.As a voice-over talent, she developed long-term relationships with Sam Adams Boston Lager, The Shane Company, BMW and many other fine sponsors.
Tawn worked extensively in television as well. She hosted stringer reports for MTV when the network first launched in 1980. She’s hosted television specials for MTV, USA Cable’s groundbreaking, “Night Flight.” She also starred as a featured host for the “Metal Head Video Magazine” series.
She worked with GROUNDSWELL in the realm of concert promotions, bookings, and public relations; as well as Videowest where she appeared as on-camera talent.
Tawn did voiceovers for weekly reports on MTV, and acted as co-producer, writer and voice over specialist for FLOW Communications. She also lent her pristine pipes to BILL GRAHAM PRESENTS, doing voice-overs for TV and radio summer concert advertising campaigns.In film, Tawn performed cameos in The Blues Brothers, Heavy Metal Thunder and Mud and Penelope Spheeris’ critically-acclaimed, Decline of Western Civilization, Pt. Tawn produced several music videos including Scorpions’ “No One Like You,” Greg Kihn’s “Happy Man” and “Jeopardy”, and Romeo Void’s “Never Say Never.’ She also owned her own video production company in San Francisco under the moniker L.I.P.S. (Ladies In Production Services).
